Turkish government launches nationwide raids and crackdowns on My Family Safe LGBTQ+ organizations
In mid-September 2026, in the name of "protecting families and children," the Turkish authorities launched a large-scale joint law enforcement operation code-named "My Family Is Safe" (Ailem Güvende/My Family Is Safe) in 15 provinces across the country. The police raided the offices of multiple long-running LGBTQ+ and HIV rights advocacy organizations, related businesses and community venues, arrested hundreds of activists, and blocked the websites and social accounts of dozens of rights groups. The move triggered many protests in Turkey and was strongly condemned by international human rights agencies.
