In 2026, thousands of residents and visitors gathered in Shrewsbury, United Kingdom, for the town's annual LGBTQ+ Pride festivities. First launched in 2023 as a milestone for local cultural inclusion, the three-day event is fully supported through public donations and organized entirely by community volunteers.
Festivities commenced on Friday with an array of artistic and interactive community workshops. Events at English Bridge Studios on Abbey Foregate featured sessions exploring reflection, loss, and craft projects based on the six pride flag colors. The opening day concluded with social gatherings and karaoke at the In Good Hands Music Café in Frankwell.
Saturday formed the centerpiece of the weekend, headlined by a popular community parade through the Town Square accompanied by vocal performances from The People's Show Choir. Throughout the day, local venues hosted a queer art market showcasing ceramics, illustrations, and textiles, alongside charity booths, Pride blessing ceremonies, live punk concerts, spoken word poetry, and evening afterparties.
Sunday delivered the closing series of cultural activities across multiple local spaces. Venues including The Crown and Albert's Shed featured cabaret acts, interactive games, 1990s musical revivals, and community singalongs. The festival concluded with a headline performance by local musical group Boom Boom Womb, recently featured on BBC Introducing.
