In September 2026, participants gathered in Belgrade, Serbia, for the country's annual LGBTQ+ Pride March. Demonstrators carrying rainbow and Trans Pride flags marched through the city center, while a rainbow flag was displayed from a window of the National Assembly of Serbia, with the event concluding without incident.

The demonstration marked 25 years since Belgrade's first Pride march in 2001, which had been attacked by football hooligans. Held as part of Belgrade Pride Week, the event revived its original slogan, "There Is Room for All of Us," and designated journalist Danica Vučenić as the "Godmother of Belgrade Pride 2026".

The peaceful execution of the march highlights a significant moment of resilience for the region's LGBTQ+ community. Addressing attendees prior to the event, Vučenić emphasized the urgency of defending human rights at a time when violence is glorified and homophobic attacks remain a serious concern.

This public gathering reinforces the visibility and unity of human rights advocates across the Balkans. By asserting space in mainstream civic venues, the event provides encouragement to regional LGBTQ+ movements striving for safety, equality, and systemic anti-discrimination protections.
